In the afternoon of May 15th, 2015, Mark Farrar was experiencing some type of crisis. His wife was concerned for his safety as he was expressing suicidal thoughts.
His wife called the police at 4:24pm when Mark’s behavior became more erratic. At the time she called, Mark had grabbed hold of an AR-15. He also stripped naked and was pacing in and out of the house.
Mark was dead by 4:30pm.
It has been reported that Mark was on his front porch when he saw a Rockford Police officer approaching his house with their guns out. David Cerasa alleges that Mark pointed and fired his gun at officers causing Cerasa to shoot and kill Mark Farrar.
This was the ninth case investigated and justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force and tenth deadly force incident in the 2010’s.
It was the second case where officers claimed “suicide by cop”
