On April 6th, 2022, David Reimann was in the Winnebago County Jail.
David had been arrested on April 1st, 2022, by Rockford Police officer Andrew Hartman on a DUI charge.
David was in a cell to himself in one of the jail's medical wings.
Although video footage was not released, states attorney J. Hanley said the footage showed from 1:01 - 1:56 pm David was experiencing “medical issues”.
It would later be reported that David had a seizure.
2:30 p.m. is when Corrections Officer Curtis first got concerned over the health of David. C.O.s are supposed to check on the inmates every 15 minutes. C.O. Curtis called for medical assistance and David was transported to Swedish American Hospital.
David was pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m. April 6th, 2022.
An autopsy by the Winnebago County Coroner ruled David died due to a “peritonitis caused by ruptured duodenal ulcer.” - a fatal ulcer.
This was the twenty-sixth case investigated and justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force.
It was the sixth deadly force incident in the 2020’s and 15th since Tom McNamara took mayoral office.
