Spencer Berke has been a Rockford Police officer since April 2000. Berke is cousins with Randy, Ron Berke, and Trevor Berke (the son of Ron).

Berke worked as a Winnebago County sheriff deputy prior to joining RPD.

When Randy Berke, became the interim chief of police, Spencer Berke began leading 4am raids on the Occupation. In the dead of winter, officers would take blankets, chairs, books, handwarmers, anything and everything the Occupation had.

On several occasions, officers referred to the memorials in Say Their Name Square as trash.

Officers moved in a calculated way to tear down the memorials.
