On February 6th, 2019, Gambini Jr. responded to the shooting of Randy Pierson by then Rockford Police officer Timothy Stec.

Pursuant to the then-active CBA, Gambini Jr. asked Stec 13 predetermined questions regarding the shooting.

Gambini wrote in his report that he remained with Stec in a support role as they went to St. Anthony's hospital.
