Michelle Stewart (Bootz) has been a Rockford Police officer since September 2006. Stewart is married to Rockford police officer Daniel Stewart.
She is currently a sergeant.
On February 6, 2019, Stewart and Amy Kennedy responded to the shooting of Randy Pierson by then Rockford Police Timothy Stec on Highway 20. Bootz and Kennedy spoke to witnesses at the scene before handing them off to the Integrity Task Force.
In the fall of 2022, Stewart was one of the police officers who responded to the RPS 205 administration building after an increased community presence in response to the video being made public of a school resource officer slamming a student unconscious in the hallways of Auburn High School.
One community member was arrested; however, the State's Attorney declined to file charges.
