On February 6th, 2019, Hecker responded to the shooting of Randy Pierson by then Rockford Police Officer Timothy Stec on Highway 20. Hecker positioned his vehicle to block traffic coming from S. Main Street.
On October 5th, 2020, Hecker was one of the two dozen officers who were assigned to go to the Occupation at City Hall.
Hecker assisted in arresting one protester who was charged with criminal trespassing and obstruction.
The protester would eventually have all charges dropped after the State's Attorney declined to take it to trial.
