Kaera Shelby #1962

Kaera Shelby, formerly Watson, has been a Rockford police officer since May of 2013.


From at least 2019-2021, Shelby served on the SCOPE (Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement) team.


On February 6th, 2019, Watson responded to the shooting of Randy Pierson by then Rockford Police officer Timothy Stec on Highway 20.


Watson assisted in getting drivers redirected from the scene.


On May 30th, 2020, Watson was present outside District 1. During the arrest of one individual, who would later have their charges dismissed, she beat a protestor multiple times with a wooden baton.


The community member Watson repeatedly struck with her baton was not arrested.


On August 14th, 2020, Shelby and the rest of the SCOPE team assisted in two arrests of protestors for walking in a crosswalk.


The protestors were originally charged with Mob Action.
