John Cabello has been a Rockford Police officer since 1995. Prior to that he was a South Beloit cop.

Cabello is currently an Illinois State representative for the 90th district.

In 2020, Cabello helped organize the Back the Blue event on August 1st, 2020, outside the Winnebago County Jail.

After this event, counterprotesters were assaulted and arrested by RPD officers, WCSD deputies, and civilians.

Cabello has been an openly MAGA candidate.

In the fall of 2020, Cabello responded to a Facebook comment from a constituent.

The original comment asked Cabello if now was the time to lock and load.

Cabello responded with Not yet, but be ready.
