On January 5th, 2021, Wessner was the first SCOPE officer to catch up to Denzel Dunivant in Fairgrounds. Denzel voluntarily put his hands up and got down on his knees while telling Wessner he had a warrant.
Wessner went behind Denzel, shoved him face down in the snow, and got on top of him. Wessner admitted in his reports to punching and striking Denzel multiple times in the face and body.
In May of 2021, Wessner was named in a complaint to the May 30th Alliance alleging excessive force on a Rockford Community member.
