David Nicosia has been a Rockford Police officer since October 2007.
Nicosia previously worked 17 years as a cop in Florida. When Nicosia first tried to join RPD he was denied because Illinois law at the time was a candidate had to be under 35 or have already worked a full year as a Illinois officer.
Nicosia did not meet either requirement. He sued the police and fire commission in 2006.
