David Cerasa has been a Rockford Police officer since May of 2013.
On May 15th, 2015, Cerasa responded to a call on 16th Avenue. The call stated that there was an intoxicated naked man with a previous mental diagnosis carrying a semi-automatic rifle.
When officers responded, Mark Farrar pointed the gun to his throat and began a countdown. When Farrar reached the end, Cerasa shot and killed him.
On May 30th, 2020, Cerasa was assigned to the SWAT team. They were to monitor the first protest in Rockford following the murder of George Floyd.
During the protest, Cerasa fired 40 mm OC impact rounds on at least four different occasions at protesters.
On July 31st, 2020, Cerasa, along with Fallon Watton, arrested a protester.
Cerasa and Nolan Walker worked the case on the shooting that was captured on a May 30th Alliance Facebook live on August 31st, 2021.
