Daniel Scharlau

Daniel Sharlau has been a Rockford police officer since November 2003.


On May 30th 2020, Sharlau was assigned to monitor the first protest in Rockford following the murder of George Floyd.


Sharlau was on the “skirmish line” outside of District 1.

On one occasion Sharlau used his baton against a protestor. The individual was not arrested.


During one of the lines advances, Sharlau noticed a woman moving towards the line. Sharlau sprayed her directly in the face with OC spray.


The woman later stated she dropped her phone and was looking for it when she was sprayed. She was not arrested nor was any aid given to her by police.


In 2019, Scharlau made $87,521 in salary + $3,290 in overtime = $90,811 + $25,155 in health insurance + $30,497 pension pay.
