Christopher Jones #3869

Christopher Jones has been a Rockford police officer since 2005.

On April 28, 2007, Christopher Jones responded to a call for backup made by Rockford Police Officer Richard Campion. Before Jones' arrival, RPD Officer Sisomphou Toon Singmouangthong grabbed Jose Urdaneta, who had been shot three days prior, and performed a leg sweep to take Jose to the ground.

Once on the ground, Toon got on top of Jose, putting his knee into Jose's back. Campion held down and got on top of Jose's legs.

Jones responded with Rob Hatfield and Ryan Cory.

Upon their arrival, it is alleged that Hatfield repeatedly struck Jose multiple times with his department-issued ASP, while Jones and Cory held down Jose's head and shoulders.

Officers then shackled and hogtied Jose, all while holding down his body and head.

Jose Urdaneta eventually lost consciousness and died three days later.

In 2019, then a detective, Jones received a call from then sergeant Mark Sander asking for his assistance on a sexual assault investigation.

Jones met with Sander told him the suspect was Rockford police officer Daniel Basile and the victim was a City of Rockford employee. The victim offered her phone up to be searched and Sander tasked Jones with this.

In the phone he found text messages from Basile to the victim. Jones was then tasked with preparing a search warrant of Basile's residence.

During the preparation of the warrant, Jones found out that due to Basile recently having an order of protection filed against him, his FOlD card was revoked meaning he was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Jones met then lieutenant Rob Reffett, Kelly, Martin, Sander, and Martin met at the Roscoe police station prior to executing the search warrant at roughly 1 a.m.

Basile answered the door with a phone in hand that he offered to the officers. Sander found two more cellphones inside the residence that he gave to Jones. The officers requested Basile open a safe.

Inside officers found:

Ruger LC9 9mm semi-automatic handgun with magazine and 7 rounds of FC Luger 9mm

Ammunition - BEAST Tag 016

3 Speer .40 caliber live rounds of ammunition - BEAST Tag 015

Black cloth holster - BEAST Tag 012

Detective Jones after obtaining Basile's phone and reviewing the footage, Jones wrote in his report that the content and the angle of possibly hundreds of images

"disturbed" him. He described the angle as a "voyeur" covert angle.

He also uncovered voice recordings between Basile and an unidentified woman during which they argued and the woman accused Basile of forcing his way into her home.

Jones had no further involvement in the investigation. Basile was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault that was later dropped after Kelly lied to the grand jury.

On May 3rd, 2024, Jones told a cop watcher to “Get the fuck out of my way f*gg*t.”

On October 3rd, 2024, Jones, as a sergeant, responded to a 911 call made by Fred Sabet, a building owner, complaining about a Rockford For Palestine protest outside of Roni Golan’s (a local and vocal Israeli Zionist) Underground Art Gallery in downtown Rockford.

Prior to this Golan served in the Israeli military, attended local zionist counter protests, gave news interviews defending Israel, and dehumanized Palestinians on social media. Golan’s wife, Ronit, was also vocal in criticizing, harassing and degrading any pro Palestinian sentiment online.

Sabet in his 911 call complained of the loud noise from the protest, lied saying the protestors were blocking entry into the art gallery, and said he felt unsafe.

Jones as a sergeant had officers give out a noise citation for the use of a megaphone.

The next night protestors returned for the second night of art scene. Jones was already downtown as he was watching over a city contractor wash away political speech written in chalk by the May 30th Alliance alongside Rockford City Hall.

Protestors lined up on the public sidewalk near the Underground Art Gallery directly across City Hall.

Ronit and a Zionist man exited the art gallery to grab a banner held by protestors. The Zionist duo aggressively yanked the banner and pushed protestors while seeking a face to face physical confrontation.

Jones quickly crossed the street but claimed he did not see any of the altercation and did not take any statements from the RFP protestors. He called for back up after he ushered the Zionists back into the art gallery.

Upon his exit and the arrival of half a dozen Rockford police officers and one Winnebago County Sheriff Deputy, Jones had his officers give out noise citations for their use of drums during the protest. They left without any arrest.
