Andrew Thompson has been a Rockford police department officer since 2018. Thompson previously worked as a Winnebago county sheriff deputy from 2016-2018.

On December 30th, 2018, Thompson on the orders of then Rockford Police officer Kevin Nordberg, brought the “BAT” vehicle to Kerry Blake’s front lawn.

Thompson was relived from the scene by the SWAT team. Matthew Krantz, a SWAT team leader, eventually snuck into the Blake household. Krantz shot and killed Kerry Blake.

Thompson was listed as an arresting officer of a protestor that was repeatedly tased in the leg.
