Andrew Seale has been a Rockford police officer since February 2008.
On March 26th, 2015, Joshua Scheiwg was walking with a hunting rifle down Bruce Street.
There was allegedly a shots fired call that brought Rockford police officers Andrew Seale and Nicholas Alejo into the area.
Seale and Alejo were in a marked RPD van. They drove to the intersection of Bruce and Horseman street where they saw Joshua walking.
Joshua was carrying a Winchester Hunting Rifle.
From the van, Seale and Alejo ordered Joshua to drop the rifle. He did not. He kept walking past the van ignoring the two cops.
They made no other attempts to engage with Joshua as he continued walking towards Rockton Road.
Although video of the incident was recorded, it was never released.
It was alleged by the two officers that Joshua continued walking for about half a block when he turned back towards the cops and raised his gun.
Both of officers began shooting.
One witness told a RRStar reporter at the time that they heard “20 shots in two bursts”.
Joshua Scheiwg was hit once in the leg.
Joshua Schweig plead guilty to one count of “armed habitual criminal”.
This was the eighth case investigated and justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force and ninth deadly force incident in the 2010’s
In 2019 Seale was assigned to be a “Rock House” cop after the previous officer was charged with rape.
Seale worked multiple protests following May 30th 2020. During this assignments, Seale was witness to several brutal arrests made by Rockford police officers.
At times Seale assisted in the arrests or turned his back.
On June 25th, 2021, City Market Seale and Jeremiah Cizerle arrested a protestor on a warrant from two weeks before.
It has been alleged the timing of the arrest was politically motivated to keep protestors away from City Market.
