Kareem Mankarious #1820

Kareem Mankarious has been a Rockford police officer since 1993.


On May 30th, 2020, during the first protest in Rockford following the murder of George Floyd, Mankarious was the police officer making statements on the PA system at RPD District 1.


During the event, officers tased individuals, multiple teams

repeatedly punched and kicked individuals, shot pepper bullets directly at people - at times hitting them in the head, sprayed tear gas into the crowd, slammed protestors, pushed defenseless women to the ground, used batons and shields to repeatedly strike protesters and cars as they drove by, among many other violent acts.


In the fall of 2020, Mankarious and a team of RPD officers responded to a call outside the Winnebago County Courthouse. Protestors were walking in the crosswalk holding signs of people recently shot by police in Winnebago County.


Mankarious and officers arrested two protestors. One of the individuals had their charges dropped while the other is still awaiting trial.
